Theme: Daily Scripture
“And he took of the ram of consecration, the breast for his portion, elevating it before the Lord, as the Lord had commanded him.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Leviticus 8:29: “And he took of the ram of consecration, the breast for his portion, elevating it before the Lord, as the Lord had commanded him.”
A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. Leviticus is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Leviticus 8:29. As I listen to “And he took of the ram of consecration, the breast for his portion, elevating it…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
