Catholic Verse of the Day

Hebrews 7:21

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Thursday, October 14, 2027, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

Forgiveness & Mercy

But this with an oath, by him that said unto him: The Lord hath sworn and he will not repent: Thou art a priest for ever).

Hebrews 7:21

Reflection for Today

The Church sets before us Hebrews 7:21: “But this with an oath, by him that said unto him: The Lord hath sworn and he will not repent: Thou art a priest for ever).”

Hebrews comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.

As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Hebrews 7:21 I hear, “But this with an oath, by him that said unto him: The Lord hath sworn and he will…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
