Theme: Humility
“Laugh no man to scorn in the bitterness of his soul: for there is one that humbleth and exalteth, God who seeth all.”
Reflection for Today
Today's Catholic verse of the day is Sirach 7:12: “Laugh no man to scorn in the bitterness of his soul: for there is one that humbleth and exalteth, God who seeth all.”
Sirach belongs to the wisdom books, where faith meets daily decisions. Holiness is not only for extraordinary moments; it is learned in ordinary choices. A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Sirach 7:12. As I listen to “Laugh no man to scorn in the bitterness of his soul: for there is one that humbleth…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
