Theme: Daily Scripture
“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign. Behold a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son and his name shall be called Emmanuel.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Isaiah 7:14: “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign. Behold a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son and his name shall be called Emmanuel.”
In Isaiah, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Isaiah 7:14, let “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign. Behold a virgin shall conceive,…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
