Theme: Joy
“And she said to her: Be of good cheer, my daughter: the Lord of heaven give thee joy for the trouble thou hast undergone. ”
Reflection for Today
Let Tobit 7:20 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “And she said to her: Be of good cheer, my daughter: the Lord of heaven give thee joy for the trouble thou hast undergone.”
Tobit, received in the Catholic canon, shows courage, fidelity, and providence when God's people are tested. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Tobit 7:20 I hear, “And she said to her: Be of good cheer, my daughter: the Lord of heaven give thee joy…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
