Theme: Family
“The children of Saphatia, the children of Hatil, the children of Phochereth, who was born of Sabaim, the son of Amon.”
Reflection for Today
Let Nehemiah 7:59 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “The children of Saphatia, the children of Hatil, the children of Phochereth, who was born of Sabaim, the son of Amon.”
Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. Nehemiah is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Nehemiah 7:59. As I listen to “The children of Saphatia, the children of Hatil, the children of Phochereth, who was…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
