Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Ezra 7:10: “For Esdras had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do and to teach in Israel the commandments and judgment.”
A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. Ezra is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through Ezra 7:10. You said, “For Esdras had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do and to…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
