Reflection for Today
Today's Catholic verse of the day is 1 Corinthians 6:19: “Or know you not that your members are the temple of the Holy Ghost, who is in you, whom you have from God: and you are not your own?”
Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. 1 Corinthians comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from 1 Corinthians 6:19. As I listen to “Or know you not that your members are the temple of the Holy Ghost, who is in you,…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
