Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Hosea 6:6: “For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice: and the knowledge of God more than holocausts.”
In Hosea, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. Mercy is the place where Catholic life becomes most concrete: Confession, patience at home, and the decision not to keep score forever.
Today's invitation under the theme of Mercy is simple and serious. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Hosea 6:6 I hear, “For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice: and the knowledge of God more than…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
