Catholic Verse of the Day

Job 6:4

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Sunday, August 1, 2027, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit

For the arrows of the Lord are in me, the rage whereof drinketh up my spirit, and the terrors of the Lord war against me.

Job 6:4

Reflection for Today

Let Job 6:4 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “For the arrows of the Lord are in me, the rage whereof drinketh up my spirit, and the terrors of the Lord war against me.”

Job belongs to the wisdom books, where faith meets daily decisions. Holiness is not only for extraordinary moments; it is learned in ordinary choices. A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings.

As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.

Prayer

Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Job 6:4. As I listen to “For the arrows of the Lord are in me, the rage whereof drinketh up my spirit, and…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
