Reflection for Today
Pause with 1 Samuel 6:20. Hear these words again: “And the men of Bethsames said: Who shall be able to stand before the Lord this holy God? and to whom shall he go up from us?”
The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. 1 Samuel is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.

Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from 1 Samuel 6:20. As I listen to “And the men of Bethsames said: Who shall be able to stand before the Lord this holy…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
