Reflection for Today
Pause with 2 Samuel 6:8. Hear these words again: “And David was grieved because the Lord had struck Oza, and the name of that place was called: The striking of Oza, to this day.”
The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. 2 Samuel is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.

Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through 2 Samuel 6:8. You said, “And David was grieved because the Lord had struck Oza, and the name of that place…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
