Theme: Work & Service
“Take, my brethren, for example of suffering evil, of labour and patience, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.”
Reflection for Today
Let James 5:10 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “Take, my brethren, for example of suffering evil, of labour and patience, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.”
James comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
Today's invitation under the theme of Work & Service is simple and serious. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from James 5:10. As I listen to “Take, my brethren, for example of suffering evil, of labour and patience, the…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
