Theme: Faith
“Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing that the same affliction befalls, your brethren who are in the world.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with 1 Peter 5:9. Hear these words again: “Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing that the same affliction befalls, your brethren who are in the world.”
1 Peter comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In 1 Peter 5:9 I hear, “Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing that the same affliction befalls, your…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
