Theme: Prayer
“But she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, let her trust in God and continue in supplications and prayers night and day.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with 1 Timothy 5:5. Hear these words again: “But she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, let her trust in God and continue in supplications and prayers night and day.”
1 Timothy comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance. We often wait to feel holy before we pray. Scripture gently reverses that: we pray, and holiness begins to find us.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In 1 Timothy 5:5 I hear, “But she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, let her trust in God and continue in…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
