Reflection for Today
Pause with Baruch 5:2. Hear these words again: “God will clothe thee with the double garment of justice, and will set a crown on thy head of everlasting honour.”
The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. In Baruch, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future.
Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Baruch 5:2. As I listen to “God will clothe thee with the double garment of justice, and will set a crown on thy…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
