Theme: Daily Scripture
“These things are in my ears, saith the Lord of hosts: Unless many great and fair houses shall become desolate, without an inhabitant.”
Reflection for Today
Today's Catholic verse of the day is Isaiah 5:9: “These things are in my ears, saith the Lord of hosts: Unless many great and fair houses shall become desolate, without an inhabitant.”
In Isaiah, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through Isaiah 5:9. You said, “These things are in my ears, saith the Lord of hosts: Unless many great and fair…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
