Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us 1 Chronicles 5:22: “And many fell down slain: for it was the battle of the Lord. And they dwelt in their stead till the captivity.”
1 Chronicles is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.
Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through 1 Chronicles 5:22, let “And many fell down slain: for it was the battle of the Lord. And they dwelt in their…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
