Theme: Daily Scripture
“And Henoch walked with God: and lived after he begot Mathusala, three hundred years, and begot sons and daughters.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Genesis 5:22: “And Henoch walked with God: and lived after he begot Mathusala, three hundred years, and begot sons and daughters.”
Genesis is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through Genesis 5:22. You said, “And Henoch walked with God: and lived after he begot Mathusala, three hundred years,…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
