Catholic Verse of the Day

1 Peter 4:2

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Tuesday, May 18, 2027, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

Peace

That now he may live the rest of his time in the flesh, not after the desires of men but according to the will of God.

1 Peter 4:2

Reflection for Today

Let 1 Peter 4:2 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “That now he may live the rest of his time in the flesh, not after the desires of men but according to the will of God.”

Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. 1 Peter comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance.

God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for speaking through 1 Peter 4:2. You said, “That now he may live the rest of his time in the flesh, not after the desires of men…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
