Theme: Faith
“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again: even so them who have slept through Jesus, will God bring with him.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us 1 Thessalonians 4:13: “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again: even so them who have slept through Jesus, will God bring with him.”
1 Thessalonians comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In 1 Thessalonians 4:13 I hear, “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again: even so them who have slept…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
