Reflection for Today
Pause with Colossians 4:17. Hear these words again: “And say to Archippus: Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it.”
The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. Colossians comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance.
Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Colossians 4:17. As I listen to “And say to Archippus: Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
