“So then, brethren, we are not the children of the bondwoman but of the free: by the freedom wherewith Christ has made us free. ”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Galatians 4:31: “So then, brethren, we are not the children of the bondwoman but of the free: by the freedom wherewith Christ has made us free.”
Galatians comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Galatians 4:31 remain. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep Galatians 4:31 close to me. Let “So then, brethren, we are not the children of the bondwoman but of the free: by the…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
