Theme: Faith
“Jesus saith to him: Go thy way. Thy son liveth. The man believed the word which Jesus said to him and went his way.”
Reflection for Today
Let John 4:50 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “Jesus saith to him: Go thy way. Thy son liveth. The man believed the word which Jesus said to him and went his way.”
Belief grows less by argument alone and more by fidelity: returning to prayer, returning to Mass, returning to mercy. The Church treasures John because the Gospel is the face of Christ in human language, meant to be heard with faith.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Share this verse with someone who needs encouragement, not as advice from above, but as a gift you yourself are trying to live.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In John 4:50 I hear, “Jesus saith to him: Go thy way. Thy son liveth. The man believed the word which…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
