Reflection for Today
Let Luke 4:14 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “And Jesus returned in the power of the spirit, into Galilee: and the fame of him went out through the whole country.”
Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. Luke does not give us a distant memory of Jesus. It places us in His company, where every word can become prayer.
Today's invitation under the theme of Holy Spirit is simple and serious. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Luke 4:14 I hear, “And Jesus returned in the power of the spirit, into Galilee: and the fame of him…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
