Theme: Wisdom
“And God gave to Solomon wisdom, and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, as the sand that is on the sea shore.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us 1 Kings 4:29: “And God gave to Solomon wisdom, and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, as the sand that is on the sea shore.”
1 Kings is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Wisdom in the Bible is rarely flashy. It looks like restraint, good counsel, and the humility to ask for help before a decision hardens.
Today's invitation under the theme of Wisdom is simple and serious. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from 1 Kings 4:29. As I listen to “And God gave to Solomon wisdom, and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
