The Church sets before us 2 Samuel 4:1: “And Isboseth the son of Saul heard that Abner was slain in Hebron: and his hands were weakened, and all Israel was troubled.”
2 Samuel is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.

Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through 2 Samuel 4:1, let “And Isboseth the son of Saul heard that Abner was slain in Hebron: and his hands…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
