2 Kings 4:7

Reflection for Today

The Church sets before us 2 Kings 4:7: “And she came, and told the man of God. And he said: Go, sell the oil, and pay thy creditor: and thou and thy sons live of the rest.”

A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. 2 Kings is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.

As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.

Prayer

Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep 2 Kings 4:7 close to me. Let “And she came, and told the man of God. And he said: Go, sell the oil, and pay thy…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
