Theme: Daily Scripture
“Booz therefore took Ruth, and married her: and went in unto her, and the Lord gave her to conceive, and to bear a son.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Ruth 4:13: “Booz therefore took Ruth, and married her: and went in unto her, and the Lord gave her to conceive, and to bear a son.”
Ruth is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Ruth 4:13 I hear, “Booz therefore took Ruth, and married her: and went in unto her, and the Lord gave…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
