Theme: Family
“By it we bless God and the Father: and by it we curse men who are made after the likeness of God.”
Reflection for Today
Today's Catholic verse of the day is James 3:9: “By it we bless God and the Father: and by it we curse men who are made after the likeness of God.”
Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. James comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance.
Today's invitation under the theme of Family is simple and serious. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through James 3:9, let “By it we bless God and the Father: and by it we curse men who are made after the…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
