Theme: Humility
“But the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptibility of a quiet and a meek spirit which is rich in the sight of God.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with 1 Peter 3:4. Hear these words again: “But the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptibility of a quiet and a meek spirit which is rich in the sight of God.”
1 Peter comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance. Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of 1 Peter 3:4 remain. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through 1 Peter 3:4. You said, “But the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptibility of a quiet and a meek…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
