Reflection for Today
Let Matthew 3:15 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “And Jesus answering, said to him: Suffer it to be so now. For so it becometh us to fulfil all justice. Then he suffered him.”
Matthew does not give us a distant memory of Jesus. It places us in His company, where every word can become prayer. A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings.
Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Matthew 3:15. As I listen to “And Jesus answering, said to him: Suffer it to be so now. For so it becometh us to…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
