Theme: Work & Service
“And thou having been scourged by God, declare unto all men the great works and the power of God. And having spoken thus, they appeared no more.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with 2 Maccabees 3:34. Hear these words again: “And thou having been scourged by God, declare unto all men the great works and the power of God. And having spoken thus, they appeared no more.”
2 Maccabees, received in the Catholic canon, shows courage, fidelity, and providence when God's people are tested. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from 2 Maccabees 3:34. As I listen to “And thou having been scourged by God, declare unto all men the great works and the…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
