Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us 2 Timothy 2:18: “Who have erred from the truth, saying that the resurrection is past already, and have subverted the faith of some.”
2 Timothy comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance. Faith is not pretending we have no questions. It is trusting Christ enough to keep walking while the answers are still unfinished.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In 2 Timothy 2:18 I hear, “Who have erred from the truth, saying that the resurrection is past already, and…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
