Reflection for Today
Pause with 2 Thessalonians 2:13. Hear these words again: “Whereunto also he hath called you by our gospel, unto the purchasing of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
2 Thessalonians comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance. Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through 2 Thessalonians 2:13, let “Whereunto also he hath called you by our gospel, unto the purchasing of the glory of…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
