Work & Service

Holding forth the word of life to my glory in the day of Christ: because I have not run in vain, nor laboured in vain.

Philippians 2:16

Reflection for Today

The Church sets before us Philippians 2:16: “Holding forth the word of life to my glory in the day of Christ: because I have not run in vain, nor laboured in vain.”

Philippians comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.

As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Share this verse with someone who needs encouragement, not as advice from above, but as a gift you yourself are trying to live.

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for speaking through Philippians 2:16. You said, “Holding forth the word of life to my glory in the day of Christ: because I have not…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
