Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Revelation 1:8: “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, saith the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
True strength in Scripture is often quiet. It is the courage to remain faithful when quitting would be easier. Revelation is often treated as a puzzle of fear. Catholic faith reads it as a book of worship and hope: the Lamb reigns, and history is not abandoned.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Revelation 1:8 I hear, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, saith the Lord God, who is and who…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
