Catholic Verse of the Day

1 Peter 1:23

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Saturday, October 31, 2026, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but incorruptible, by the word of God who liveth and remaineth for ever.

1 Peter 1:23

Reflection for Today

Today's Catholic verse of the day is 1 Peter 1:23: “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but incorruptible, by the word of God who liveth and remaineth for ever.”

Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. 1 Peter comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance.

Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In 1 Peter 1:23 I hear, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but incorruptible, by the word of God who…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
