Catholic Verse of the Day

Philemon 1:9

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Wednesday, October 28, 2026, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: God's Love

Love

For charity sake I rather beseech, whereas thou art such a one, as Paul, an old man and now a prisoner also of Jesus Christ.

Philemon 1:9

Reflection for Today

Pause with Philemon 1:9. Hear these words again: “For charity sake I rather beseech, whereas thou art such a one, as Paul, an old man and now a prisoner also of Jesus Christ.”

If this verse speaks of love, it invites a question that is quietly demanding: whom am I being asked to love more concretely today? Philemon comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance.

If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Philemon 1:9 remain. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.

Prayer

Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep Philemon 1:9 close to me. Let “For charity sake I rather beseech, whereas thou art such a one, as Paul, an old man…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
