Theme: Work & Service
“Being confident of this very thing: that he who hath begun a good work in you will perfect it unto the day of Christ Jesus.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with Philippians 1:6. Hear these words again: “Being confident of this very thing: that he who hath begun a good work in you will perfect it unto the day of Christ Jesus.”
The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. Philippians comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through Philippians 1:6. You said, “Being confident of this very thing: that he who hath begun a good work in you will…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
