Theme: Daily Scripture
“Thus saith the Lord of hosts, saying: This people saith: The time is not yet come for building the house of the Lord.”
Reflection for Today
Let Haggai 1:2 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “Thus saith the Lord of hosts, saying: This people saith: The time is not yet come for building the house of the Lord.”
Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. In Haggai, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future.
Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Haggai 1:2, let “Thus saith the Lord of hosts, saying: This people saith: The time is not yet come…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
