Catholic Verse of the Day

Nahum 1:9

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Saturday, October 3, 2026, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

What do ye devise against the Lord? he will make an utter end: there shall not rise a double affliction.

Nahum 1:9

Reflection for Today

Today's Catholic verse of the day is Nahum 1:9: “What do ye devise against the Lord? he will make an utter end: there shall not rise a double affliction.”

Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. In Nahum, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future.

Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Nahum 1:9 I hear, “What do ye devise against the Lord? he will make an utter end: there shall not rise…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
