Reflection for Today
Pause with Joshua 1:17. Hear these words again: “As we obeyed Moses in all things, so will we obey thee also: only be the Lord thy God with thee, as he was with Moses.”
Joshua is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth.
Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through Joshua 1:17. You said, “As we obeyed Moses in all things, so will we obey thee also: only be the Lord thy…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
