Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Sunday, August 30, 2026, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

The Lord said to me: Say to them: Go not up, and fight not, for I am not with you: lest you fall before your enemies.

Deuteronomy 1:42

Reflection for Today

Today's Catholic verse of the day is Deuteronomy 1:42: “The Lord said to me: Say to them: Go not up, and fight not, for I am not with you: lest you fall before your enemies.”

Deuteronomy is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings.

God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Share this verse with someone who needs encouragement, not as advice from above, but as a gift you yourself are trying to live.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Deuteronomy 1:42 I hear, “The Lord said to me: Say to them: Go not up, and fight not, for I am not with you:…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
