Novena for a Job – Day 3: Perseverance

Join in praying the Novena for a Job to seek honest work, perseverance, and God's provision.

Today's Focus: Perseverance

On this third day we pray for perseverance when applications go unanswered. Waiting can empty a person of hope. We ask not to grow bitter, idle, or ashamed.

Prayer for Day 3

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Heavenly Father, you are the God who hears the poor and does not forget the laborer who waits. Many doors have closed. Many letters have had no reply. We come to you for the grace to continue.

You do not despise the prayer of those who wait.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end.

Amen.

Heavenly Father, give us perseverance! Help us to keep looking without self-contempt. Guard us from idleness that pretends to be rest, and from frenzy that pretends to be faith.

We also pray for these intentions… (State your need for work here)

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be

St. Jude, helper in difficult cases, pray for us!

Reflection for Today

Today we pray for perseverance in the search for work. Perseverance is not stubbornness. It is hope with its sleeves rolled up.

St. James writes, "Blessed is the man who endures trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life" (James 1:12). A silent inbox is a trial. It is not a verdict on your worth.

Shame is a particular wound of unemployment. Friends still go to work. The days feel empty. Bring that shame to the Father. He is not embarrassed by your need. He taught us to pray for daily bread.

As we continue this novena, ask for one more honest effort today: one application, one call, one hour of skill. Then pray. God joins the two.

Remember that many saints waited years for a door. Delay is not always denial. Sometimes it is formation.

How to Make an Excellent Novena

Trust in God

Trust completely in God's ability to provide work in His time. Turn to Him with confidence in every interview, delay, and closed door.

Be Persistent

Pray this novena with persistence and keep looking for work. Prayer and effort belong together. God will not fail those who turn to Him with trust.

Be Specific

Present your specific need: a position, a just wage, a next interview, or the grace to stay in a hard job. God wants to help you with the particular difficulty you face.

Be Grateful

Thank God for skills you already have, for work you have done, and for daily bread so far. Gratitude opens the heart to receive more graces.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, give us perseverance. Help us to keep knocking, to keep praying, and to refuse the lie that we are forgotten. St. Jude, pray for us. Amen.
