No evils shall happen to him that feareth the Lord, but in temptation God will keep him and deliver him from evils.

Sirach 33:1

Reflection for Today

Today's Catholic verse of the day is Sirach 33:1: “No evils shall happen to him that feareth the Lord, but in temptation God will keep him and deliver him from evils.”

Sirach belongs to the wisdom books, where faith meets daily decisions. Holiness is not only for extraordinary moments; it is learned in ordinary choices. Peace is one of the first things anxiety steals. Christ does not deny our storms; He offers a peace that can remain even while the waves are still high.

God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Sirach 33:1 I hear, “No evils shall happen to him that feareth the Lord, but in temptation God will keep…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
