Theme: Holy Spirit

Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high: and the desert shall be as a charmel, and charmel shall be counted for a forest.

Isaiah 32:15

Reflection for Today

Pause with Isaiah 32:15. Hear these words again: “Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high: and the desert shall be as a charmel, and charmel shall be counted for a forest.”

In Isaiah, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth.

Today's invitation under the theme of Holy Spirit is simple and serious. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Isaiah 32:15 I hear, “Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high: and the desert shall be as a…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
