LoveForgiveness & Mercy

Have pity on thy own soul, pleasing God, and contain thyself: gather up thy heart in his holiness: and drive away sadness far from thee.

Sirach 30:24

Reflection for Today

The Church sets before us Sirach 30:24: “Have pity on thy own soul, pleasing God, and contain thyself: gather up thy heart in his holiness: and drive away sadness far from thee.”

Sirach belongs to the wisdom books, where faith meets daily decisions. Holiness is not only for extraordinary moments; it is learned in ordinary choices. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.

Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.

Prayer

Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep Sirach 30:24 close to me. Let “Have pity on thy own soul, pleasing God, and contain thyself: gather up thy heart in…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
