Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Sunday, July 8, 2029, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Mercy

Forgiveness & Mercy

The Lord thy God will bring back again thy captivity, and will have mercy on thee, and gather thee again out of all the nations, into which he scattered thee before.

Deuteronomy 30:3

Reflection for Today

Let Deuteronomy 30:3 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “The Lord thy God will bring back again thy captivity, and will have mercy on thee, and gather thee again out of all the nations, into which he scattered thee before.”

If this verse tastes like mercy, let it search you kindly. Where do you need forgiveness, and where are you being asked to give it? Deuteronomy is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.

If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Deuteronomy 30:3 remain. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for speaking through Deuteronomy 30:3. You said, “The Lord thy God will bring back again thy captivity, and will have mercy on thee,…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
