Theme: Peace
“If her husband hear, and hold his peace, and doth not disallow the promise, she shall accomplish whatsoever she had promised.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Numbers 30:12: “If her husband hear, and hold his peace, and doth not disallow the promise, she shall accomplish whatsoever she had promised.”
Peace is one of the first things anxiety steals. Christ does not deny our storms; He offers a peace that can remain even while the waves are still high. Numbers is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Numbers 30:12 remain. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Numbers 30:12 I hear, “If her husband hear, and hold his peace, and doth not disallow the promise, she…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
